Hey again. Writing in from Perth now - the most isolated city in the world! From Esperance, we just about followed the coast to get here.  Have been really loving Western Australia. Definitely has that stereotypical chill, friendly Aussie vibe to it more than anywhere else I’ve been.

After a day spent frolicking and jumping off rocks at Twilight Bay, Esperence, we continued our journey west. We made various stops along the way, as usual, to see incredible natural formations and wildlife. One of the beaches we stopped at was known for having sting rays which was a first for me. We went for a lovely hike in Albany and by lovely I mean devastating. Heading out for a 12km peninsula hike with limited water on a 95 degree day is a poor decision. The views of the water were gorgeous but taunting.

Further West we scooted over to Margaret River. Highlight of the roadtrip so far I really enjoyed this region. Some of the most gorgeous beaches I’ve seen, plenty of untouched forest land, surfing and snorkeling, all in a well-known wine region? Come onnnnnnn. I was upset that I didn’t have a surfboard on me when stopping at some of the popular breaks, but otherwise the experience is going to be a hard one to beat. We spent a bit of time at Bunker Bay beach in the North West of this region where there was top tier shnorkel (two of my friends saw a shark!) and dolphins at play. I was shocked at how few people were there.

Since then we’ve made our way to Perth. Yesterday I had a solo day on Rottnest Island. Another highlight of the trip, my friends absolutely missed out. I rented a bike for the day and did a loop through about half of the island. More snorkeling through sanctuaries. This island is known to have the world’s largest population of quokkas. They’re like big rats but way cuter. So i spent a lot of time hanging out with those goofballs.

Today I plan on exploring Perth a bit before continuing North. 4 members of our convoy will end their journey here, so it will be sad to say goodbye. It’s been a great few weeks with the Belgians and Germans. Gonna miss the excessive drone footage, questionable driving, and of course schmackofatz. Hopefully we can put together another epic convoy for the rest of WA.
